What The Market Will Bear in a Bear Market

Since I don't frequent and only rarely visit other audio sites, I have only fuzzy notions about what sort of audio (if any) gets others going these days. Meanwhile, when Romy takes a break, so does this site. If forced to guess, I'd say "most audio people" are still stuck on the notion that they can look around on the internet, find out about gear from others, buy it, and get the sound others go on about. Yawn. Ironic that even here people are probably waiting to find out the make of Amp X. As for "most promising commercial speakers", if there is such a thing, an optimized/personalized version of it still requires someone to guide their system to a place where it delivers what they are looking for. Someone either wants to or does not want to, can, can't, or won't optimize old Spendors to taste. Optimized horns have some advantages, but very few horns are optimized to begin with, regardless of pedigree, machining, woodwork, or the buzz a product is attended by. And for most people, none of this really matters, since exotic speakers are more luxury goods than Music, going in and in the end.
Best regards, Paul S
