                                                    | fiogf49gjkf0dOK, Romy, what about Pristine Audio? Their site looks like the usual "artificial modesty" advertising, the engineer with the "musical background" and all the fawning "support"...
Anyway, I sure like my Music and Arts Beethoven 9 CD (Furtwangler, 1943), and I am always wishing that someone - anyone - would do "the best possible job" of re-formatting the great old semi-lost recordings. The Brahms Requiem I recently mentioned on the Musical Discussions post was - unfortunately for me - cut straight to either wax or lacquer (hard to be sure from accounts I have read), rather than being taped (magnetophon), so this would be a great example of "recovery/archiving" IF someone actually pulled it off. Unfortunately, the Naxos CD seems to read "too true" to the semi-messed-up original.

If there is already a thread about this, I missed it; but, if so, please transfer this post, apropos.

 Best regards,
 Paul S
