Have you tried using the Edgar350/2441-combination between the upper bass- and midrange horns, like Romy’s fundamentals channel?
I use a very similar combination (140 Hz and 600 hz tractrix with Studio 8M and JBL 2420 drivers, respecti...

Hi Harold!
Paul makes a good point. There's a lot of good stuff to read on this site. I must have read almost everything on here and posted no more than a dozen times... :-)
Anyway, I'd like to ask you two things: what was it about your friend'...

Why the need to cross the S3 so low? Crossing below 500Hz on a 260 horn seems to be pushing the limits a bit. What kind of upper bass solution are you planning?

If you look at the original Bionor drawings (you can find them at klangfilm.free.fr) you see that the "bass" horn is actually made out of two sections, the outer is curved, the inner is conical and expand both horizontally and laterally (more in the ...

An observation that might only be of superficial interest to the thread: I don't think the speakers use Klangfilm woofers. The pictures are a bit grainy, but the dustcaps look far too big for the original Bionor woofers. I would guess this is a "clon...

Yes, I agree. If the output of the fundamentals-channel is controlled via the slopes in the crossover, the opportunity to set the output on a recording-to-recording basis is lost. If one, however, has the output of the fundamentals-channel ...

Hi Jessie!
I’m probably suggesting the obvious, but have you tried adjusting the crossover component values on the fundamentals and MF-channels? On the fundamentals-channel, increasing the inductor-value, and decreasing the cap, so tha...

The system is still very much a work in progress, but I have come to the conclusion that the concept as such is very, very good. It's only up to me to make it sound as well as I know it is capable of. Making and fine-tuning the crossover might take m...

The horns that Stereo Lab make are very good, especially considering the relatively modest prices. I bought the "Ultra-Fi" version of the 140Hz horns and they are of course not completely free of resonance - JLH's and Romy's massive horns are cer...

I have also been working on a pair of Macondo-inspired horn-speakers. Horns from Stereo Lab, but with horn-drivers from JBL, rather than the elusive Vitavox. I hold Romy's forum in very high regard because of the content-standard of the posted messag...

Hi!Actually, the Goodmans Axiom 80 full-range driver fits into your description, thanks to it's free air suspension... The fs is around 20 Hz, with a q of 0,3 and a pretty spectacular vas of some 1000 litres. The specs are courtesy of Thorsten w...

Hi!You are probably familiar with this one... It's the closest to a multi-cell tweeter (well, maybe because it actually IS a multi-cell tweeter, but only 6 cells) I've ever seen...picture of Altec 3000hRegards,Anders Boman...

Hi!The cuts are from a bonus disc that came with EMIs "Centenary Edition - 100 Years of Great Music", a 10 CD set issued in 1997. Each CD was dedicated to a decade long span, beginning with 1897-1907.I bought the set when it came out, and I...
