Congratulations for your new home....

Paul S,Seems most of Lampizator models has "R2R Ladder" as a option now, as used to be on the Level 6: http://lampizator.eu/Fikus/PRODUCTS.html...

I rather prefer to listen to LPs directly than to a digital backup, but point to have a digital backup (IMHO) is related to be relatively safe in the case of a random destructive event happen. We never know when the house will set in fire, or a truck...

I fail to see why a dedicated audio room *should* be isolationist. If there are enough space (or good planning) the room can be made as a separated structure but at same time as a continuation of the whole house, allowing people to be there without d...
|
Romy,I think if you find a room a bit more deeper, like 40 feet your project will work better. The extra space will allow more easily to have a second ambient room, then the social visitors should not disturb the musical affairs/visitors. But be awar...

For people who are waiting for Tesla PowerWall, an alternative: http://sonnen-batterie.com...

You may also use a "Mail Forwarding Service". You have to look for a reliable one, I suppose there are scam ones. There are tons of those services in USA, but in Japan I do not have idea.Just an example, I never had used it: https://www.usa2me.com...

For 30K I believe one can buy a big top of the range Eaton/APC online UPS, which output (teorically) <1% THD for linear load, maybe for the entire house, and still have money to deal with the low impedance and install another regenerator (audio gr...

Paul, Thanks!Yes, I had got the Romy point. I am just too obstinate to get that thing done but indeed I am still considerate a standard system as start point too. My problem with that, buy a standard one before, were I always try to avoid to have to ...

Hi Romy and All!I was looking for some way to have LPs and CDs stored (but ready to use) without being directly exposed to dust and others ambient things. I found these cabinet models what I think are very interesting, but the last time I saw they se...

Many thanks for your attention.I will not try to make the horns myself since I do not have the necessary abilities for that. I am too far, educational/professional-wise, from a related field to acquire the enough information to properly make anything...

Those are the specs I managed to find from ALE, but certainly incomplete (or outdated) because those new versions (like 160 Super Extra) are missing. I am leaving here just in case.

Thanks Romy,
With midbass the total sound of channel is about 20% come from the driver and the rest comes from the horn design, channels integration methods, room integration methods and a few other factors.
Now I got why exactly midbass...

Well I don't know a better place to post it, and I do not feel it is enough information to justify a new topic.IIRC the ALE 160 driver is reported here (goodsoundclub) as having a 4" throat diameter but I found out it may be indeed 5" but with a "SUP...

A good read IMO.http://www.audiosystemsgroup.com/SurgeXPowerGround.pdf...

Seems Tune Audio made new subs - KION. I read somewhere these use some sort of horn topology:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EALyfwn45IU...

How much for an audiophile version?...

Yes, someone made it: http://www.nme.com/blogs/nme-blogs/this-german-guy-made-the-worlds-first-concrete-record-and-heres-what-it-sounds-likeThere is a video....

I believe he found out his academic/musical background serve well as marketing for the most of his potential clients. But funny he was the first to say, in others words, it means nothing for audio purposes:"... It’s not that they necessarily listen ...

I found this interview with Joël Durand from Durand Tonearms:http://www.dagogo.com/an-interview-with-joel-francois-durand-of-durand-tonearmsI think is a good reading!...

If the idea is just to listen and not make any sort of manipulation, you may want to give a try to RuneAudio or Volumia or AP Linux, they are free anyway:http://www.runeaudio.com/https://volumio.org/http://www.ap-linux.com/Seasonic have fanless PSU, ...

You eventually may find a Lampi 6 near you here: https://www.facebook.com/LampizatOr-BIG-7-tube-rollers-group-1527145964228079/?fref=tsAlternatively you may test that type of design on a AN DAC. There are so many levels, with so many prices, most lik...

Yes, it worked in the same way AN do in theirs DACs. They usually use AD1865N (18bit) but with 44.1/48/96KHz (locked at 96/18 IIRC) input capability and if the customer really wants they can make it read 192/24, but still locked at 18bit and always w...

I think if you find a way to put your hands on a old Level 6 (now merged with Big Five) you could possibly find the best DAC him made. The Level 6 was a R2R chip DAC, very minimalist, but 44/16. I think it got removed due to lack of interest of their...
|
Paul S,I usually do not compare source components (or amplifiers or cables or etc.) in this fashion, DAC vs DAC, CDT vs CDT etc. unless I feel two (or more) of then (may) be too similar, like Lampizator and AN UK DACs I like. I prefer to focus integr...
|
I do not go to 'Audio Shows' but the fact of the people are using Lampizators on this fashion may be because they (Lampizator) are promoting the headamp version of their DACs. Seems almost all of theirs DACs have a headamp version now.My experience w...

I found this description of how MQA works:http://www.hifiwigwam.com/showthread.php?127311-Tidal-Announce-MQA-Streaming&p=2217736&viewfull=1#post2217736
It is not a secret, what MQA is and does.
