I see myself in art as well as having art in me. There is a huge difference from being part of an ensemble where the mutual efforts create the result or having the creative juices in me looking for an application. If I think about Shostakovich 8, I am in art when I perform with an orchestra. If I am reading the score (in silence), the art is in me, often helping to create something (in my head) bigger than life without restriction. As a matter of fact, as I am very close to 70 years old and there is a certain distance to my top performing years. This has moved a lot of my focus inwards and I derive great pleasure from this. I still have unique performing opportunities, but I am more selective about what I play and am very careful that the necessary time to prepare is available. I do currently read scores more often than I turn on my playback. There are far more surprises this way.

Being "in Art" needs a common language for communication to produce results that create further opportunities for me in the first place. The art in me, needs no words, no explanation, no apologies. It is "shareable" BUT the chance that anyone will understand what I mean is very limited.
