Post Subject: Starting With Drivers That Will Do "It"Posted by Paul S on: 7/1/2025
Amir, yes, it's a complex process, with a lot of parts and variables, but I think the holdover from the 2005 post is that the drivers either will or won't do "it", to begin with. More recently we've discussed driver (and system) own sound as a factor that can "work both ways" in terms of facilitatiing or even exaggerating tone, usually certain "aspects of tone". I like to steer people away from the popular notion that they can read a post, buy and install a named component, and get absolute tone, and that will do "it". Fortunately, we have our own ears and sense of aesthetics that we can use to guide us over time. Absent that, it is really only fooling around with complicated, expensive toys. Of course taste might (likely) change over time, as well, but that does not change the concept.

Best regards,
Paul S
